However, before the encounter with UNiKA, there was no Dante product that was cost-effective and had superior sound quality for the microphone amplifier. After close contact with UNiKA’s Simon Hsu for half a year, Eagle Tseng (Chief engineer of E.H. Studio) decided to test the performance and tone of UNiKA’s microphone amplifier.

As expected, UNiKA’s NBB system can completely replace the complex system in the past, making future multi-track recording easier, especially the NBB-1616 can achieve sampling rate of up to 24bit/192KHz, especially suitable for the classical music recording project that Eagle undertakes daily. As an on-site multi-track recording, Eagle Tseng. Egale Tseng was eager to use Dante as a recording transmission interface before taking this case. Dante’s system advantage is that it can replace the cumbersome AD-DA equipment and the clock synchronization device only needs to carry Dante’s devices and computers, and at most one network switch that can be powered by PoE.

As in the past, this time, the WINDOWS version of NUENDO was used as a multitrack recording workstation, and it was paired with Dante Virtual Soundcard and NUENDO I/O. Dante Controller can be assigned all channel path in a short time.

This orchestra band is a mid-large format orchestra including 54 musicians.

The NBB-1616 provided 16 transmission channels to the workstation. Another 4 pieces of NBB-04Rs were scattered on the stage, providing a total of 16 transmission channels to the workstation, for a total of 32 channels. The monitor was assigned to the two receiving channels of NBB-1616 from NUENDO’s CONTROL ROOM BUS, and then outputs the signal to the headphone through the headphone amplifier. In addition, the STEREO OUT of NUENDO was assigned to the two receiving channels of the NBB-1616, and then connected to the MIXER of the FOH.

A total of 6 equipment nodes (computer/NBB-1616/4 NBB-04R) on the DANTE network are routed by a TP LINK 8-channel network switch with PoE. The four NBB-04Rs on the stage are fully powered by PoE power from the switch. This feature is very convenient for the traditional concert hall wiring. The network route also provides power and 24bit / 96KHz multiplex data transmission on star or ring topology. The entire system can be mated within two hours, saving 2/3 of the mating and troubleshooting time compared to previous systems. The microphone amplifier used by NBB has sufficient headroom and rich sound details. The most important is that each channel has an independent 60dB gain knob and 18dB attenuation, +48V phantom power and inverting buttons. Meanwhile, the Cat-5e network cable, which is cheap and easy to obtain, reduces system cost and improves wiring efficiency.
